Optovision was launched to the independent full-scope Optometry sector on 1st July 2005. Since that time we have seen an extraordinary level of interest from Optometrists in a Buying Group model which, in addition to providing discounts on optical products, offers all members a share of the Buying Group Commissions received by Optovision on every purchase members transact with Optovision preferred suppliers.

The current Chairman of Optovision Ltd, elected at the November 2007 Annual General Meeting of the Company is Tom Moore, a well-known independent full-scope Optometrist who practices in Rockhamption, Queensland.

The fact that Optovision has no joining fees, no annual subscription fees and no turnover-based transaction fees has also contributed to winning hearts and minds of so many independent practitioners in the period since start up.

As at January 2009, Optovision has approximately 300 practices in its ranks of membership.
